Inspiring the Future of Architecture: AIAS Student Event at Bernardo Wills
Yesterday, the Bissinger Room at Bernardo Wills was abuzz with creativity, inspiration, and the promising energy of future architects. AIAS students from Spokane Community College (SCC), Washington State University (WSU), and the University of Idaho (UI) gathered for an event designed to connect, educate, and celebrate their achievements.
The day began with a vibrant meet & greet session, providing students the opportunity to network with their peers and industry professionals. These moments of connection are invaluable as students navigate their educational and professional journeys in architecture.
A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion on the transition from student to architect. Bernardo Wills’ own Licia LeGrant and Chantelle Patchin joined a panel of professionals to share insights on career paths, industry challenges, and advice for young designers. The discussion touched on the importance of mentorship, gaining real-world experience, and the evolving role of architects in shaping communities.
The event concluded on a high note with the 2024 AIAS Design Awards, where outstanding student projects were recognized and celebrated. The awards showcased the incredible talent and innovative thinking emerging from CCS, WSU, and UI’s architecture programs.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to AIA Spokane and the architecture programs at the Community Colleges of Spokane, Washington State University, and University of Idaho for making this event a success. Seeing the enthusiasm and passion of these students reaffirms our commitment to fostering the next generation of architects.
As a firm dedicated to thoughtful, impactful design, Bernardo Wills is honored to support emerging talent in the architecture community. We can’t wait to see where these students take their careers and the incredible work they will contribute to the built environment.
