Meet the Team

Designing Spokane since 1991

Bernardo Wills Architects began in June 1991 when Gary Bernardo and Robert Wills, its only employees, opened shop in an eight-by-ten-foot office in the Tomlinson Black Building, Downtown Spokane.

Gary and Robert, both USC School of Architecture graduates, met while working at another Spokane firm, where they developed a project management model that ensures principal involvement in every project. Their complementary strengths and shared philosophy on design have sustained their partnership for over three decades.

"Failure wasn’t an option," recalls Gary Bernardo. "It had to work, and we had to do whatever it took."

Robert Wills adds, "Clients we’d served for years at our previous firm came knocking on our door, and we were happy to welcome them."
