Breathing New Life Into a Spokane Landmark: Inland Northwest OB/GYN Project Underway
Bernardo Wills is proud to work with Inland Northwest OB/GYN on a deeply meaningful renovation and adaptive reuse project in Spokane’s South Hill neighborhood. Located on the corner of 7th Avenue and Chandler Street, the project site is a cherished early-1900s brick church — soon to be a reimagined home for women’s healthcare.
Built to serve Spokane’s German-speaking Catholic community, Sacred Heart Parish was founded in 1891 by Father Barnabas Held, OSB. This historic church has long stood as a cornerstone of the neighborhood, radiating a spiritual presence and architectural beauty that resonates with generations of Spokane residents.
Now, this building will continue its legacy of service — this time, to women and families across the Inland Northwest. Our design team is carefully preserving the original character of the church while bringing it up to modern standards for functionality, comfort, and accessibility. This includes discreet structural updates, thoughtful spatial planning, and the integration of advanced medical infrastructure — all without compromising the building’s historic charm.
At Bernardo Wills, we believe that architecture should honor both place and purpose. With this project, we’re doing just that. We bring extensive experience in historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects, including our own office building in downtown Spokane. That history, combined with a deep commitment to community and client vision, ensures that we approach every detail with care.
We’re honored to partner with Inland Northwest OB/GYN — a trusted healthcare provider dedicated to serving the evolving needs of women — and we’re grateful for their confidence in our team to bring this meaningful transformation to life.
This is more than a renovation — it’s a continuation of a legacy. Stay tuned for more as the project progresses.
