Ferris High School Replacement
Completed in 2014, Bernardo Wills Architects provided landscape architecture services for the Ferris High School replacement on Spokane’s south hill. The site design included landscaped courtyards, tennis courts, and fields for softball, baseball, and soccer. Designers had to consider the suburban character of the neighborhood and preserved many of the existing ponderosa pines and native plant understory. Additionally, they planned for future snow removal standards set by the school district and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles. Open communication with all stakeholders is key to ensure a successful landscape and site design process.
