Excelsior Grand Opening: A New Era of Holistic Healthcare

Last night, Bernardo Wills joined community members, local partners, and supporters to celebrate the grand opening of Excelsior’s new integrated care clinic. The event marked a major milestone not only for Excelsior but for Spokane, as the organization continues its mission to provide comprehensive healthcare and support to underserved populations.

Located on a sprawling 30+ acre campus, Excelsior’s site is a unique blend of new and historic architecture. What began as the Sisters of the Good Shepherd School in the 1960s has evolved into a state-of-the-art facility, thanks to an ongoing collaboration between Excelsior Wellness, Bernardo Wills, and Swinerton Builders. This transformation is the result of a comprehensive master plan aimed at bringing the campus up to modern standards while expanding its capacity for holistic healthcare services.

The newly completed clinic includes a 4,800-square-foot addition, as well as a 10,000-square-foot interior remodel of the existing structure. Spanning two floors, the facility offers a range of essential services including family medicine, outpatient mental health counseling, recreational therapy, and after-school programs. It also serves as a hub for Excelsior's innovative wraparound intensive services (WISe+) and residential living accommodations.

What makes this project particularly special is the vision behind it. From the beginning, community members and stakeholders were invited to participate in the planning process through design charrettes, sketch graphics, and video fly-throughs. This collaborative approach ensured that the end result truly reflects the needs of the Spokane community.

As we look ahead, the development continues to expand, with plans to further integrate medical, behavioral, and social services. The new clinic is just one piece of a broader mission to create balanced healthcare solutions that help patients and the community thrive.

We are honored to have worked with Excelsior Wellness and Swinerton Builders on this transformative project and look forward to seeing how it will positively impact the Spokane region for years to come.
