#TransformationTuesday: The War Memorial Field in Sandpoint, ID.
The Festival at Sandpoint returns this year with an amazing lineup and a new field. During the Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Master Plan process, artificial turf was considered to ensure safety for athletes and a longer season of play. However, we had to ensure that the Festival at Sandpoint could still utilize the field for their needs. As the Bernardo Wills Architects landscape architecture team designed the War Memorial Field improvements, a special anchor system was placed under the turf to support the iconic festival tent. Additionally, designers planned for the increased pedestrian traffic and semi-truck access. Check out these photos from set up last week. The best part is that when the Festival ends, kids and teams will be able to practice the very next day with little disruption.
#WorksiteWednesday At War Memorial Field in Sandpoint, ID, Phase 2 of the project is well underway. A new water access point and boat ramp, retaining wall, and parking lot are all under construction. These new additions will further improve this regional sports facility. #goteam #landscapearchitecture
As the War Memorial Field nears completion, there is huge progress every day. The numbers and lines are being cut into the turf surface, and the sports fields are taking shape. Once completed, the artificial turf will be ready for baseball, softball, soccer, and football, and the recreation department will also offer lacrosse play. The field design includes a new goalpost system with increased safety technology for the staff raising and lowering the posts between seasons.
