Only 7 weeks until the greatest basketball weekend on earth: Hoopfest 2021! Have you been out to see the completed Hoopfest mural at the North Bank?
#30BestOfBWA Completed in 2015, the Global Scholars Hall Phase II is a signature student residence for Washington State University. This design-build project is a five-story dormitory, with associated common areas and decks, and dedicated community and commercial ground-floor spaces. Four levels containing 133 dwelling units of varying types—totaling 276 beds—are over a second-level podium. On the fifth floor, a unique series of seven “apartment-style” units along a single-loaded corridor features outdoor decks with views to the courtyard below. The team developed a phased site logistics plan to illustrate how construction materials and equipment were to be staged, key access and egress points, and how construction activities would be conducted to mitigate the impact on the student population. Bernardo Wills Architects provided the full suite of services on this project, including landscape and interior design in addition to architectural design.
At the Atlas Mill Waterfront, the dog park has been extremely popular in this heatwave. At this special waterfront dog park, dogs and their owners can swim together safely, and other users can access the water without dogs elsewhere along the river. “This is the best dog park, ever!” was overheard at the park this weekend, and we’d have to agree. Bernardo Wills Architects provided landscape architecture services for this project.
#30BestofBWA Child Development Center, Fairchild Air Force Base. This project hit many “firsts” for Bernardo Wills Architects.
#30BestofBWA Fresh Soul, a non-profit soul food restaurant in East Spokane, needed some help reviving a building that sat vacant for almost 40 years. The new color scheme is indicative of the energy and life Fresh Soul brings to the neighborhood. They operate as a nonprofit through the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association and run a teen job-training program for youth ages 14 to 18 to help them obtain entry-level positions in the industry. Bernardo Wills Architects provided interior design and architectural services for this bright, joyful project. We love their mission (and their food).
