What a difference a year can make. Last February, LaRiviere crews had just begun clearing the North Bank Playground site. The project, including the playground, skate park, splash pad, basketball court, and park maintenance building, is nearly complete and will be a quiet site until landscaping and finishing touches go in this spring.

This will be a Bernardo Wills Architects legacy project, fulfilling our commitment to making our community better through the spaces we design.
Another huge highlight of 2020 was the construction of the North Bank Playground in Riverfront Park. This update video from August shows LaRiviere and ID Sculpture crews working to bring the plans to life, including the hand-carved splash pad walls and climbing elements. Crews have wrapped up exterior site work for the year and will continue on the maintenance and operations building through the winter. The playground is scheduled for completion in early spring 2021.
Crews at the North Bank Playground at Riverfront Park are still going strong. The operations and maintenance building is dried in and ready for more snow. The exterior masonry and interior utilities have been completed, and the drywall installation is underway. The very-fun play tower is nearing completion, with the surrounding finished grade nearly finalized, tower slides placed, and the skin/panels are going up. Bravo to the crews busy on-site, no matter what weather gets thrown their way. We can’t wait to play in the spring.

Winter is barely here, but we are already looking forward to spring!
Hooptown USA and Spokane Arts have partnered to fund a large-scale mural to the new basketball court at the North Bank Playground site. The mural will be completed next spring and will bring the state-of-the-art post-tension basketball court to life. The court was included in the scope of the North Bank Playground, and our landscape architecture department supervised its construction. The basketball court, skate park, playground, and climbing areas will provide a single site to be enjoyed by Spokanites of all ages and abilities.

#WorksiteWednesday The North Bank Playground Site is taking shape. Aerial imagery shows the new roof on the picnic pavilion, the graded basketball courts, curbing around the playground, the concrete wall separating the playground and the skate park, the west wall of the O&M building going up and a very busy construction site. Rough grading and curbing at the parking lot has also been started.
Construction is officially underway at the North Bank Playground site at Spokane’s Riverfront Park, with LaRiviere leading the way as the general contractor. Demolition of the operations and maintenance building makes room for the new structure, and a blank slate is ready for the playground construction. This has been a huge effort for the BWA Landscape Architecture team, and we can’t wait to see their vision come to life.
