January is Interior Design Month!

By | Interior Design, News | No Comments

Throughout the month of January, we will be focusing on our interior design department and the fantastic work they bring to every project here at Bernardo Wills Architects. We added our first interior designer in 2008 to serve our clients and projects better. With an emphasis on interior design at the start of the process, we are able to offer more thoughtful and integrated designs to our clients than we could when we worked with consultants. The quality of design solutions is higher and more consistent through the development of an interior design team, and their understanding of current design standards keeps us moving forward. With the addition of interior design (and landscape architecture) to our projects, we can ensure the overall design feel is consistent from the inside out.

We are extremely fortunate to have interior design experts here at Bernardo Wills Architects, and we can’t wait to show how they make us better.

#ThrowbackThursday To the beginning we go…

#ThrowbackThursday 30 years ago, Bob Wills and Gary Bernardo founded their firm in an eight-by-ten foot space in the Tomlinson Black Building in Downtown Spokane. Here’s an image from the vault – Gary, Bob, and Bob Wills Sr. building the first conference room table in Bob’s garage. Never despise humble beginnings, it may be just the start of something good. #BWA30Years

Whitworth Water District Office and Maintenance Facility

By | Architecture, Construction, Interior Design, Landscape Design | No Comments

Many of our operations & maintenance facility projects require a mix of traditional shop and maintenance facilities, as well as administrative office space. In the Whitworth Water District Office and Maintenance Facility, the owner and designers considered how the floor plan and materials chosen would help to marry the two departments. They needed a space where each driver could come in to get assignments, meet as a large group, while (hopefully) not tracking in dirt and debris from their job sites. In addition, access to a shared break and kitchen space allowed for all staff to share meals together. Choosing materials that conform well to shop and office space applications is extremely important, and we know we’ve done our jobs correctly if it all goes unnoticed.
